The Kushabhau Thakre Patrkarita Avam Jansanchar Vishwavidyalaya was established under Act No 24 of December 2004 of Chhattisgarh Government. Former Prime Minister of India Sri Atal Bihari Vajpayee formally inaugurated the University on 16 April 2005. At present the university functions from Kota stadium Raipur. The campus has well- equipped classrooms, faculty rooms, library, Computer lab, Audio-Visual studio, Language lab and other necessary infrastructure. Private Hostel facility for Boys and Girls is available in close surroundings of the University. The Government of Chhattisgarh has allotted 62 acres of land to University on which the new campus is being built. The new campus will be a unique amalgamation of old and new architecture. The campus will be equipped with all necessary facilities.

The Kushabhau Thakre Patrkarita Avam Jansanchar Vishwavidyalaya always strives to achieve the following objectives: -

  1. Build up the University as a National Center of teaching, training and research in the areas of Journalism and allied fields.
  2. To develop the human resources in order to meet out the above mentioned requirements.
  3. Build up proper technology for communication in rural and tribal areas through research, training and publication.
  4. Build up entrepreneurs with specialization.
  5. Provide special attention to the marginalized group of the society specially, Woman, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, socially deprived people and others.
  6. Make all arrangements for all necessary requirements in order to complete the above-mentioned objectives.
