Moment of inertia of some regular uniform bodies. Theorems of parallel and perpendicular axes, Newton's laws of gravitation. Artificial satellites, Fluid mechanics and equation of continuity. Beronoulli's theorem, Surface tension, and its determination, Viscosity,Modullii of elasticities. Bending of beams and cantilever, Torsion of cylindrial bodies.

Postulates of special theory of relativity , Lorentz transformations and their consequences, Relativity of mass, Mass energy equivalence and its consequences.

THERMAL PHYSICS :
Thermodynamical coordinates, thermal equilibrium, Zeroth law of thermodynamics, concept of point and path functions and first law of thermodynamics, Reversible and irreversible processes, Heat engine and its efficiency . The second law of thermody-namics. Carnot's engine Carnot's theorem. Absolute scale of temperature.

Claussius theorem, Entropy and change of entropy in some physical process , Entropy of the universe and principle of increase of entropy, statistical definition of entropy S=K 10 gr.

Black body radiation, Radiation pressure, Stefan's law, Planck's law of radiation.
Concept of perfect gas, pressure exerted by the gas and gas laws, Kinetic interpretation of temperature.

Waves and Oscillations :
Simple harmonic motion, one dimensional wave equation and its solution, Principle of linear super-imposition. Damped and forced oscillations, Resonance and Q-factor. Simple oscillatory systems vibrations of strings and air columns, Doppler effect, Ultrasonics porduction, detection and uses Reverberation and sabine's law, Basic ideas of acoustic of building. Recording and reproduction of sound.

Optics : Cardinal points and combination of coaxial thin lenses, Spherical and chromatic aberrations and their correction., Microscopes and Telescopes, Ramsden, Huygen and Gauss eye pieces.

Huygen's wave theory of light and explanation of laws of reflection and refraction. Electromangnetic nature and Quantum nature of light (Only Qualitative discussion).

Coherent sources of light, Interference, Young's double slit experiment.

Diffraction of light : Fresnel and Fraunhofer diffraction.

Basic idea of polarisation, Brewster law.

Electricity and Magnatism : Coulombs' law, Electric field, electrie potential and electric flux, Gauss's theorem and its applications. Basic idea of dielectrics, Quadrant electrometer.

Classification of magnetic materials : diamagnetism, paramagnetism and ferromagetism, B-H curve, Hystereris loss.

ohm's Law (J=6E) Kirchoff's laws, Wheatstone's bridge and its applications. Galvanometers and potentio meters, Faraday's laws of electromagnetic induction, self and mutual induction and their properties. Alternating currents, Impendancex, L.C.R. circuits and resonance, Dynamos, Motors, Transformers, Seebeck peltier and Thomson effects and their applications, Faraday's laws of electrolysis and their application.

Electronics :Thermionic emission, Diode and trode. p-n diode, simple rectifier , amplifier and oscillator circuits (vacum tubes) .

Atomic and Nuclear Physics : Determination of charge (e) of an electron. Determination of specific charge (e/m) of an electron.

Bohr theory of atoms and explanation of hydrogen like spectro, X-ray production and their detection, Mosley's law.

Basic elements of radioactivity, Alpha, Beta and Gamma emissions, qualitative ideas of fission and fusion processes, Matter waves (h-h/p)
